Wandering Monsters
Lots and lots of encounters, all random, all the time. Not really of course as all the time would be tedious but these two pages contain a two tables of them. Both are examples that can be used but seem more like guidelines for making your own. Of course unless your using a world sold in a book you will probably want to and if your using a premade world they probably already have encounter tables so its alright. I approve of the small number of example tables instead of a lot of extensive ones. The Labyrinth has enough detail for a new DM to just use and the Wilderness has an interesting mix of high and low level encounters. The book could have spelled out a ton of different tables but that would just freeze a lot of games with those tables. By doing it this way at the least the DM will have to search out more tables on their own.
